„If no one is writing about the conflict in Syria, does that mean it’s not happening?“

Without reporters our horizon and knowlede of the world would not only be extremly narrow, but crimes as exploitations, abuses and other human tragedies would be easy to hide. NGOs like Amnesty International already know that there is nothing more effective than dragging crimes into public. This gives reporters a lot of power and responsibility but also makes them early victims of prosecution and imprisonment.

Reporters without Borders consists of couragous journalists who write about stories which are not supposed to be published and work in regions where the right fo free press might be easily violated by the people in power. To continue their important work they need your support.

Over 3.6 billion jeans are produced each year. To make just one of them 920 gallons of water are needed. Upon that enormous dissipation of water the toxic waste of jeans production is polluting the nearby rivers and therefore the oceans as well.

So it’s time to think about an ethical and sustainable way to produce our favorite sort of pants: everyone has one, so everyone should care about it, too!

„More than me“ is a NGO based in Liberia where currently around 40 % of the girls between the age of 10 to 14 never had a chance to go to school. To change that and to give them more opportunities in the future „More than me“ founded an all-girls tuition-free school where the students do not only have classes but can also enjoy a day-long counselling and mentoring- programm. You can support them by donations or by taking other creative actions.

On June, 26th, refugees registered in Belgium, France, Germany, Holland and Italy demonstrated in Bruxelles for a humane asylum policy in Europe and demanded of the EU-Authorities to take responsibility for their destructive and military foreign policy which makes human beings to become refugees in the first place.

The demonstration followed a six weeks and 450 km long march, starting in Straßbourg. By participating, the marching refugees actively protested for the freedom of movement. They do not want pity, they want to work and demand their human rights.

Peter Greste and his Al Jazeera colleagues Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed have been sentenced to seven years in prison. The Egyptian court found them guilty for ‘airing misleading news’ about Egypt’s political situation.

The men are facing harsh conditions, spending the vast majority of their time in small cells. From previous cases it is known that Tora prison (where they are being held) lacks even basic supplies, such as clothes.

Amnesty international considers them as prisoners of conscience and started an urgent petition to demand Peter Greste, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed to be freed.

Working rights keep being violated wordwide. The construction works in Sotschi 2014 are just one of the many examples where worker’s lives and well-being was put at risk to satisfy the needs of others.

The International Trade Union Confederation represents working people worldwide. The ITUC’s primary mission is the promotion and defence of workers’ rights and interests, through international cooperation between trade unions, global campaigning and advocacy within the major global institutions. They make sure that the products we purchase are produced under fair conditions and that working rights are respected.

Since 1971 the doctors without borders provide medical aid to people who suffer force of arms, poverty or natural catastrophe. In times of war, like currently taking place in Syria, their help is needed more than ever.

The Great Barrier Reef is threatened by the world’s largest coal port expansion. Right now, companies and investors from around the world have their eye on Australia, with plans to double Australian coal exports and triple carbon emissions over the coming years.

This petition urges UNESCO to continue pressuring the Australian Government to prevent building the world’s largest coal port on the Great Barrier Reef.
