Kaoru Yonekura is a Caracas-based journalist covering serious human rights violations and crimes against humanity in Venezuela. She is the author of No te olvides de mí (2024) and co-author of Ahora van a conocer al Diablo (2021), both published by Editorial Dahbar, recipient of the 2022 AAP International Freedom to Publish Award. Her work has appeared in La Gran Aldea, Caracas Chronicles, El País, Coolt, Cinco8 and El Estímulo. She is known for her investigative series Las presas de Maduro (Maduro's Female Prisoners). Her reporting has been supported by grants from the Fundación Gabo Solutions Journalism Programme (2020), Factual and UNHCR's Forced Displacement in Latin America and the Caribbean grant (2022), Free Press Unlimited and Red de Periodistas Venezolanas' Narrating Borders grant (2024), and the Red de Periodistas de la Amazonía Venezolana's Amazonian Stories grant (2026).
