“Pakistan”

Pakistan, the South Asian nation with a population of 197 million citizens, borders its neighbouring Iran, Afghanistan, China and of course India. The Muslim majority country has been battling with both internal and external upheavals for decades.

Pakistan was founded in 1947 after the partition of the Indian sub-continent – with a premise to provide Muslim-Indian with a country to call their own. The country was originally divided into two states, East and West. In 1971 a third war between these countries resulted in East Pakistan seceding and becoming the separate nation of Bangladesh. Islamabad is Pakistan's capital and under its current Prime Minister Imran Khan, it is known as one of the most dangerous countries for journalists and free media.
